La confidence

The Latin word «confidentia», which originally meant trust but also self-confidence, developed another meaning in French: “la confidence” became the designation for a confidential communication or a well-guarded secret entrusted to another individual. The act of entrusting something to someone else results in a special relationship and a closeness between the giver and the receiver based on integrity, loyalty and respect.

This interplay between inspiring trust and being worthy of that trust is experienced every day in our work and in conversations with clients. It is manifest in the ability of staff members to familiarize themselves effectively with a given subject matter and then to act with appropriate sensitivity and discretion. And it is apparent in the extremely careful handling and digitalization of client data. It is also part of the role of «confidants» or trusted friends, which is what fiduciary agents become in the course of their work. The focus here is on the special personal relationship with the client that is characterized by the right blend of independence and human contact.
